IEEE-Eta Kappa Nu (stylized “IEEE-HKN”) is the honor society of IEEE and is dedicated to encouraging and recognizing excellence in the IEEE-designated fields of interest. Through a variety of service programs and leadership training, our members develop lifelong skills that earn them prominent positions in industry, academia, and the community.

Founded more than 100 years ago to acknowledge ingenuity and innovation in electrical engineering students, IEEE-HKN today is still dedicated to fostering scholarship, leadership, and service in both engineering students and professional members.

Invitations to join IEEE-Eta Kappa Nu will be extended to students enrolled in the undergraduate electrical engineering program at California State University, Los Angeles, and who meet the following criteria:
- top 20% of the sophomore class
- top 25% of the junior class
- top 33% of the senior class
