  3. What time do I need to arrive and what time should I plan to depart in order to attend the entire conference?
    -Attendees should plan to arrive at the hotel before 5 pm Friday, 28 October to participate in Friday evening activities and dinner
    -Attendees should plan to leave the UNCC campus at 12:30 pm on Sunday, 30 October at the conclusion of our morning workshops and labs
    -Hotel Check-In is 4pm and Check-Out is 12pm
  4. What are the nearest airports to the UNCC campus and hotel?
    CLT – Charlotte Douglas International Airport is 15.7 miles from the hotel. You will need to make your own arrangements to travel from the airport to the hotel.
  5. How far is the hotel from where the conference sessions will be held?
    The hotel is a 2-minute walk from the Energy Production and Infrastructure Center (EPIC) on the UNCC campus, where all the sessions will be held.
  6. Where is the awards banquet being held?
    The Awards and Recognition Banquet will be held at the NASCAR Hall of Fame on Saturday, 29 October. Transportation will be provided to and from the hotel/campus.

  3. How far is the hotel from where the awards banquet will be held?
    The Awards and Recognition Banquet will be held at the NASCAR Hall of Fame on Saturday, 29 October. Transportation will be provided to and from the hotel/campus.
  4. How do I reserve my Chapter’s hotel room?
    Each Chapter who will be using an HKN-provided hotel room needs to fill out this form indicating who the point of contact will be for your Chapter. The point of contact will need to fill out the form found on the hotel assignment page Here to assign attendees to a room. HKN will be covering the cost of a hotel room for each Chapter (up to 4 students) and an additional room for Faculty Advisors to attend. Rooming list and confirmation is due no later than 28 September. Every attendee must also register for the conference.
  5. I am a Faculty Advisor. How do I reserve my hotel room?
    The same procedure for students applies to Faculty Advisors: register for the conference starting 15 July; rooming list and confirmation is due no later than 28 September
  6. How will lodging be arranged for additional Chapter representatives (beyond the 4 student members and the Faculty Advisor)?
    As expected, rooms at the Marriott have completely sold out. Please stay tuned for information on alternate arrangements.
  7. If I secured a space for my Chapter by 15 July, can I cancel if circumstances change?
    There is no penalty if you cancel before the final deadline of 28 September
  8. What time can I check into the hotel? What time must I check out?
    The hotel’s check-in and check-out times are 4:00pm and 12:00pm respectively
  9. Will we have access to internet/Wi-Fi at the conference and hotel?
    Wi-Fi in the hotel room is included for hotel guests. Attendees will have access to free Wi-Fi at the conference location as well.

Conference Registration

  1. How do I register?
    Each individual student or Faculty Advisor must register by completing this form.
    Chapter officers or Faculty Advisors: If your Chapter wishes to pay the registration fees for all attendees, please contact us.
  2. What is the HKN student and HKN Faculty Advisor registration fee?
    US$40
  3. Are there registration fee discounts?
    -US$30 Early Bird Registration fee per HKN student member or Faculty Advisor. Early Bird Registration ends on 15 September.
    -Members of Key Chapters receive a US$10 discount.
  4. What is the registration fee for Alumni, Professional Members and Friends?
    – US$100 per person to attend the IEEE-HKN Awards and Recognition Banquet on Saturday 29 October 2022 at the NASCAR Hall of Fame.
    – US$250 per person to attend the full conference.

  5. What is the registration deadline?
    28 September for those staying in the Conference hotel in the HKN-provided rooms
    7 October is the deadline to reserve additional hotel rooms at the conference rate of US$139 (plus tax). Available on a first come, first-served basis.
    15 October for those only attending the conference sessions and banquet (not staying in the conference hotel)
  6. How do I submit my resume to the Resume Book?
    You will be asked to upload your resume when you register for the conference.

What’s Included & Additional Costs

  1. What does the registration fee include?
    -All learning sessions
    -Workshops (and materials used during workshops)
    -All meals and snacks during the conference (Friday dinner, all Saturday meals, Sunday breakfast, Awards Banquet)
    -Hotel room per Chapter (for two nights for up to four students)
    -Hotel room per Chapter for faculty advisor (for two nights)
  2. Are there any additional costs for students, Faculty Advisors, and Chapters?
    Additional costs for Chapters may include:
    -Travel (airline or car) to and from Charlotte, NC
    -Registration fee per student/Faculty Advisor (US$40)
    -Meals/snacks during travel to and from North Carolina
    -Transfers from airport to and from the hotel
    -Any activities that are not part of the conference that you plan on your own
    -Extra hotel nights or extra hotel rooms (HKN is covering the cost of one hotel room per Chapter for up to four students for two nights and the cost of the hotel room for a faculty advisor for two nights)
    -All other incidental expenses
  3. How can Chapters raise funds to assist with the additional costs associated with attending the conference?
