As the news pours in from around the world of Coronavirus-related closures and quarantines and as universities move courses online, the IEEE-HKN Board of Governors and staff are sending our thoughts to our members and your families.
Your health and safety, and that of all our members is paramount.
We are preparing a number of resources for our Chapters so that those who earned membership into HKN can still take part in the rituals and events even though they may not be able to hold in-person inductions, meetings and community service events.
A page will be added to our website to update our members on resources, recommendations and virtual options for Chapter operations and member experiences. We firmly believe that every person who has accepted an invitation to join HKN should have the opportunity to take part in the Induction Ritual, and take the same pledge that all of our members have taken since 1904. So, we are building the template for Virtual Inductions.
Also, we soon will announce a series of web-based workshops led by industry and academic leaders that are free and open to all HKN members worldwide. This will enable our members to stay active and engaged and network with one another in addition to those presenting the workshops. Please visit our website over the next couple of weeks for more information.
Our HKN family is strong and supportive, and we thank you for being a part of it. If you would like to volunteer to help keep our chapters operating during the outbreak, please email Info@hkn.org. If you would like to make a donation to support HKN and our Chapters, as resources will be impacted as protective measures are in place, you may visit HKN’s donation page (organized through the IEEE Foundation) and choose the Operational Fund from the dropdown menu.
