Case Western Reserve’s chapter of IEEE–Eta Kappa Nu was chartered in 1910 as the sixth chapter of the honor society. The Zeta chapter was reactivated in 2026 after a period of inactivity. We strive to promote excellence among electrical and computer engineering students by fostering connections between students and faculty, providing opportunities for networking and mentorship, and building a strong sense of community within the department. We also aim to strengthen ties with the greater Cleveland area through outreach and service initiatives.

The city became a center for engineering education and research, exemplified by institutions like Case Western Reserve University, which has long contributed to progress in electrical and computer engineering. These fields, central to IEEE and its honor society Eta Kappa Nu, grew alongside Cleveland’s industrial and technological expansion. Today, the region continues to support innovation in areas such as biomedical engineering, electronics, and data science, reflecting the ongoing relevance of IEEE disciplines.
