The Iota Alpha chapter of IEEE-HKN was founded in 1983 at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. (UAB)
Our Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering also has an active student chapter of IEEE.

Today, the University of Alabama at Birmingham and its medical research center are a dominant and growing part of city.
