IEEE-Eta Kappa Nu has expanded its reach in Region 3 (Southeastern USA & Jamaica) by installing the Nu Omicron Chapter at Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton! Welcome to the HKN family, Nu Omicron Chapter!
The ceremony was presided over by HKN Governor-at-Large John McDonald. For John, this wasn’t just a formal duty; it was a chance to pour back into the community that helped shape his own professional path.
The installation saw the induction of eight students and three faculty members, each committed to the rigorous standards of technical excellence that IEEE-HKN represents. Following the ceremony, a lovely reception allowed the new inductees, faculty, and guests to celebrate the achievement and discuss the bright future of the chapter.
Incoming Faculty Advisor, Dr. Sree Ranjani Rajendran described the evening as “truly memorable,” noting the profound influence of having a veteran leader like John McDonald present for the installation. Reflecting on the event, she shared:
“IEEE-HKN recognizes excellence in scholarship, character, and leadership, and the launch of the Nu Omicron Chapter marks an important milestone for FAU. We are grateful for the encouragement and inspiration that John McDonald provided to our students, faculty, and professionals as we begin this exciting journey of leadership, service, mentorship, and technical excellence. Thank you once again for helping us celebrate this special achievement and for supporting the growth of our engineering and computer science community.”
