Now Recruiting: HKN Judges Needed for Second Hackathon

By May 28, 2025 No Comments

HKN Alumni and Professional Members, we need your help!

The second-ever HKN Hackathon is here, and we’re inviting you to be a part of the jury of judges. Get involved with HKN by using your expertise to evaluate students’ innovative projects, offer valuable insights, and provide constructive criticism on their hard work.

The competition will take place from November 14th to 23rd. Judging will occur between November 24th and December 4th, when the jury will evaluate the solutions.

Each solution will be a runnable application. Judges will be expected to test the apps through the user interface and verify that all required features are functional. Judging criteria and specifications will be shared with the jury via email in the coming months.

The expected time commitment is a maximum of 4 hours per judge, as submissions will be distributed among the jury to balance the workload.

Additionally, judges are invited to serve as the official jury during the live demo event on December 6th, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM EST, where teams will present live demonstrations of their applications. Judges will evaluate the best pitches during this event. Judges are asked to indicate their availability for this day; confirmation will be sent to those selected.

Eligibility: Judges should have a basic background in computer engineering, including web development and coding, and must be inducted IEEE-HKN Professionals or IEEE members. Priority will be given to HKN members. Current students are not eligible to be jury members.

All judges will receive a digital certificate of appreciation at the end of the competition in recognition of their contribution.

The deadline to sign up is October 1st.
