The IEEE-Eta Kappa Nu (HKN) Nu Tau Chapter at South Mediterranean University (SMU) was officially founded on February 7, 2026. It holds the distinction of being the first HKN chapter established in Tunisia and the fourth in Africa.
The chapter was brought to life by 10 founding members dedicated to the core HKN pillars of Scholarship, Character, and Attitude. As the international honor society of IEEE, HKN recognizes students in electrical engineering, computer science, and related technical fields who demonstrate exceptional academic achievement and leadership.
Membership in the Nu Tau Chapter is highly selective, reserved for those who show a deep commitment to service and professional excellence. The chapter aims to foster a culture of academic brilliance, support the SMU student community through technical outreach, and drive the advancement of engineering and technology within Tunisia and the broader region.
