Lawrence Institute of Technology, Theta Upsilon Chapter

The IEEE-HKN Theta Upsilon Chapter at Lawrence Technological University is dedicated to advancing the HKN pillars of Scholarship, Character, and Attitude through meaningful action. We cultivate an inclusive community of engineers and computer scientists who pursue academic excellence while serving others. Our chapter operates free tutoring and exam-review sessions, and student-taught skill labs (from circuits and embedded systems to Python and data tools).
Beyond events, we emphasize mentorship: each new inductee is paired with an upper-class mentor, and project teams give members the chance to apply classroom knowledge to real problems. As a recognized honor society on campus, Theta Upsilon champions integrity, collaboration, and service, aiming to elevate the educational experience for the entire LTU community while developing ethical leaders for the profession.

Southfield,Michigan

Our chapter is based at Lawrence Technological University (LTU) in Southfield, Michigan, a city recognized as one of Metro Detroit’s leading centers for business and technology. LTU, founded in 1932, is known for its strong engineering, architecture, and design programs that emphasize “Theory and Practice.” Its location in Southfield places students at the heart of a thriving corporate corridor, home to numerous Fortune 500 companies and engineering firms that provide exceptional opportunities for internships, co-ops, and professional networking. Beyond academics, Southfield offers a diverse community, cultural events, and easy access to Detroit’s museums, research hubs, and entrepreneurial ecosystem. This unique combination of innovation, industry, and community makes Southfield an ideal environment for IEEE-HKN members to learn, grow, and serve.
