Air Force Institute of Technology, Delta Xi

The Delta Xi Chapter of IEEE-Eta Kappa Nu was established at the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT) on February 2, 1962, only 8 years after becoming a degree granting institution. Since being established, the Delta Xi Chapter has inducted more than 750 members into its ranks. The Delta Xi Chapter is very unique in that all of its members are either currently enrolled Master and PhD students or are faculty.

Being a unique organization has allowed the Delta Xi chapter to be active in the community and support our members and their families. Our chapter contains a large portion of active-duty military members which may only stay at AFIT for a period of under 2 years. This constant turnover allows our chapter to provide support to a constantly changing student body.

Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio

The Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT) is a postgraduate institution and provider of professional and continuing education for the United States Armed Forces and is part of the United States Air Force. It is in Ohio at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, near Dayton. AFIT is a component of the Air University and Air Education and Training Command. AFIT enrolls over 650 full-time graduate students. The student body consists primarily of Air Force and Space Force officers, but is rounded out by members of the other four U.S. Armed Services, select enlisted Airmen, international students from coalition countries, U.S. Government civilians, and civilians (U.S. citizens) not affiliated with the Government. Selection of officers for graduate education is fully funded by their service and is based upon outstanding professional performance as an officer, promotion potential, and a strong academic background.

Wright-Patterson Air Force Base is nestled just outside Dayton, Ohio. The area is known as The Birthplace of Aviation and so much more! The Dayton area is home to the Wright Brothers, the Dayton Aviation Heritage National Historical Park, the Wright family mansion Hawthorn Hill, the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force (the world’s largest and oldest military aviation museum and the state’s most visited free tourist attraction!), and Wright-Patterson Air Force Base where scientists and engineers at the Air Force Research Laboratories are developing the latest in aerospace technology.
