American University-Sharjah, Lambda Lambda Chapter

The Lambda Lambda Chapter of IEEE–Eta Kappa Nu (HKN) at the American University of Sharjah was established in 2018 to recognize academic excellence, leadership, and service among top-performing students in electrical and computer engineering. Rooted in AUS’s diverse and multicultural environment, the chapter promotes ethical engineering, professional development, and community engagement. Through initiatives such as coding workshops for underprivileged children and student-led technical events, Lambda Lambda empowers its members to lead with integrity, contribute meaningfully to society, and uphold the values of the IEEE-HKN honor society. As of May 2025, 147 IEEE members have been inducted to the Lambda Lambda Chapter.

The American University of Sharjah (AUS) is a prestigious, non-profit, educational institution in Sharjah’s University City. AUS was founded in 1997 by His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al-Qasimi in the vibrant city of Sharjah, United Arab Emirates. The Emirate of Sharjah is an educational hub, as well as the capital of culture and tradition in the region, with its elaborate domes, elegant minarets, and pristine greenery that decorates its skyline.

AUS follows an American-style liberal arts and professional education model firmly grounded in Arab culture. It offers a diverse array of programs with over 25 majors and 45 minors at the undergraduate level, as well as over 15 degrees at the graduate level. With a multicultural student body of over 5,000 students from more than 90 countries and a faculty drawn from dozens of nations, the university emphasizes academic excellence, critical thinking, and ethical civic engagement. It holds UAE accreditation via the Ministry of Higher Education’s Commission for Academic Accreditation as well as U.S. accreditation from the Middle States Commission on Higher Education, and several of its programs are internationally recognized through ABET and NAAB accreditations. Ranked in the QS 2026 World University Rankings at #272, AUS is consistently among the top institutions in the region for quality education and global visibility.
