As an organization, we value community and opportunity. We have been a long-standing organization on the University of Washington Seattle campus, and are a key part of the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department. Our goals are to foster community within our student body, as well as develop professional relationships with our faculty, staff, and industry representatives. We strive to offer opportunities for our students to feel welcome within the department and for them to realize their career goals.

What is JOULE?
JOULE stands “Junior Officer Undergraduate Leadership Experience.” In short, JOULEs act as freshman and sophomore IEEE representatives, and work with the Officer Board to put on events and workshops. Each JOULE is matched with an Officer mentor, who is there to guide the JOULE with all things related to their school and engineering experience. Transfer students, freshmen and sophomores of all interests (and all intended majors) are encouraged to apply! This is a great way to start meeting people in the EE department and get some resume-worthy experience.

Chapter Officers

IEEE at the University of Washington has helped students establish meaningful relationships throughout the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department and members of the industry. Additionally, the UW IEEE chapter recognizes seniors that rank in the top third of the graduating ECE class by inviting eligible students to be inducted into Eta Kappa Nu's National Honors Society.

Joining IEEE was the best decision I made in college, besides majoring in EE!
